Q:
I have had this trouble for some time with my stomach, I guess maybe even last year. I came to school last year as a freshman lady 18 years at the weight of 220 pounds and a size 18/20. Now I am a sophomore that weighs 190 pounds size 12/14. My problem is stomach issues. All this year of being a sophomore I cannot eat like I used to before I worked out and lost weight in a healthy manner. Now when I wake up sometimes my stomach hurts and I get the dry heaves. I only eat once a day and that alone is not that much calories. I tend to get nauseous at the smell of food now, making me not wanting to eat. When I do eat, my stomach is uneasy and I force myself to eat because I know I have to eat something.
A:
Ongoing stomach discomfort and nausea can be a sign of hyperacidity or ulcers so it is important for you to be evaluated and treated. Other possibilities are liver, gall bladder, kidney or pancreas issues. Eating only once a day can actually aggravate the condition, and it will be important to review the potential causes. It is also important to consider the possibility of pregnancy if you are sexually active. You can call 650-3400 for a same day appointment.
