Q:
I injured the top of my foot while running so I went to the Health Center and she said I had tendonitis and prescribed me some naproxen. 2/3 weeks later it has helped a little but I still feel pain just walking and it becomes inflamed. I can't physically bend my toe and lost quite a bit of range of motion in my foot :/ Does it take a long time to heal? Also I'm running a half marathon Sunday, I'm wondering is that a really bad idea? If it's just a pain issue I can deal but if it will cause long term damage I'm not so sure I want to risk it. Oh! and anything I can do to speed up the healing process?!?

It sounds as if you should be reevaluated because of the persistence of symptoms despite adequate antiinflammatories as it should be improving (unless you have continued training?). Running when you are not recovered from an injury is not a good idea. I recommend you call 650-3400 to see our sports medicine doctor, Dr. Howe. His schedule is packed but you can likely be worked in at the end of his clinic day.
