I've had my period for 14 days now and its still going on. Usually my periods last for 4 to 5 days. I'm really starting to worry. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

 

A:

Abnormal bleeding can have many causes, including pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections and hormonal imbalance.  If you are not sexually active so not at risk for pregnancy or infection, then anovulatory cycles (no egg produced) can result in prolonged bleeding.  Our women's health practitioners can help sort this out with you if you call for an appointment.
