Q:
My family really likes to go out to The Keg Steakhouse whenever it's someones birthday. When we go there, I usually get some variation of steak, and I've noticed now that it makes me incredibly sick afterwards. Last time I went, I was aware that the teriyaki steak and a different one made me sick, so I got the steak caesar salad instead. I had about 3 bites of the steak, not letting myself eat all of it. But it still made me ridiculously sick.
Is it possible that my stomach cant handle eating really nice food after 3 years of eating crappy college budget food?
A:
It is not clear what "incredibly sick" means. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea? Abdominal pain? Hives? Trouble breathing? The Doc needs some help here.
Can you eat steak in other settings without a problem? Do you eat any red meat in other settings without a problem? Do you have any known food intolerances?
Do you have a family history of gallstones (fatty meals can cause significant pain and nausea within an hour of eating)?
You are welcome to meet with our dietician Jill Kelly for a consultation if you are wanting to sort this out.~The Doc
