Q:
I was just reading the last post and read your note about gallstones...How would we know if we have that? I get severe stomache pains after many things I eat, especially peanut butter, milk, certain breads, saucy foods, and pretty much any restaurant foods. Is there a way of knowing why I get stomache aches after everything I eat?
A:
There are many reasons for post-meal stomach discomfort including food intolerances like lactose and gluten, but gall bladder attacks are generally due to fatty meals. The definitive test is an ultrasound picture of your gall bladder looking for stones and thickening of the mucosal lining indicating ongoing inflammatory reaction. You should be seen for your symptoms so call for an appointment.
