Q:
I had a cold that developed about two weeks ago, with a horrible sore throat and congestion and a low grade fever for a couple of days. These symptoms seem to have gone away, but now I have lots of discolored mucous and horrible sinus pressure which is giving me toothaches on my upper jaw. I am also constantly fatigued. I am wondering if this is still a normal part of the cold, or if it has developed into something else?
Also, I have been getting consistently sick every month since June of last year and my boyfriend was diagnosed with mono in July. I was never tested but it seems that many of my symptoms fit the diagnosis, especially chronic fatigue.
My mom also has hypothyroidism, which I know is genetic and can cause fatigue. I guess what I'm really wondering is if I should/can get a blood test done at the health center, to rule out the possibilities of mono and hypothyroidism?
A:
It is important to be seen for your upper respiratory symptoms that are persisting and yes, we can do blood work testing for mono and thyroid function. Call 650-3400 for a same day appointment.
