Hello,

I been diagnosed with severe allergy back in the school spring. My allergy had gotten worse since school has been out. I have complete blocked nose everyday now for two months. and I have taken Allergra and Benadryl and Flunisolide everyday. What else can I do to relieve this nose congestion?

 

A:

You need to have an examination to see if there is another explanation for your plugged nose.  The steroid nose spray used on a daily maintenance basis, with the antihistamines, is usually adequate to keep mucosal swelling manageable but that is not the case for you .  You might need skin testing to determine what you are reacting to and whether desensitization shots might be needed to reduce your immune reaction to the antigens.
