Q:
I constantly find myself not being able to concentrate on school work, finding almost anything to avoid doing it. I have trouble taking test, I can't pay attention in class. I can't focus on things for extended periods of time. Is there anything I can do to help me get through this?
A:
You need to have evaluation to sort out why this is happening now and not previously (presumably this is new for you). It can be depression, anxiety or possibly attention deficit disorder (which does not just appear for the first time in college).
For formal accommodation, you need a diagnosis of a disability. For that you need a formal neuropsychologic evaluation that is only available off campus (see our ADHD link on our home page).
If in addition, you are having non-academic problems, with anxiety and/or depression symptoms, you can be evaluated at the Student Health Center or Counseling Center.
