How can I tell if I have a bladder infection or a UTI?
It is certainly suggestive of a bladder infection if you are having to urinate more frequently, with urgency or leaking, and it burns or causes sharp pain, especially at the end of the urine flow. Infected urine can look cloudy, bloody or have odor.
If you have mid or lower back pain with fever/chills, that is a sign of potential kidney infection.
We treat uncomplicated UTIs over the phone but there are a number of screening questions we need to ask before we prescribe antibiotics. You can either call 650-3400 to talk with a consulting nurse, or walk in to see a triage nurse.
