Q:

I think I may have a yeast infection. It's a little itchy, but the symptoms are manageable. Is it possible that it will run its course, and I won't need any medication or creams? I would rather not have to use meds, so is it safe to wait and see if it will go away on its own?

A:

Yes, you can wait, or use some non-medication treatments, such as lactobacillus in capsules (available in pharmacies over the counter) or plain yogurt works too, used in an applicator vaginally. This helps to restore healthy bacteria and improves the acid/base balance vaginally. Often, yeast symptoms improve after the changes the occur with your period, so wait and see is a reasonable approach if your symptoms are tolerable.
