Q:

I was just wondering if there was anything over the counter I could purchase for anxiety attacks. Attacks sounds so harsh.. But at least 3 times week I have to stop whatever I'm doing because I start feeling really anxious for no reason. Like at night when I'm reading, etc... Anyways, thanks.

A:

There really aren't any over the counter medications that work for anxiety though some herbals like chamomile and valerian root are calming. We recommend coming in for an evaluation so we can sort out the potential causes (which can include metabolic imbalances) and talk about the options--either stress management/relaxation (non-medication approaches) or the available proven prescription medications that are effective for anxiety and non-addictive.
