Q:

About three months ago, I began taking an antidepressant for seasonal depression, knowing it may have a "sexual dysfunction" side effect. After about two weeks, this sexual dysfunction took the form of "impossible to orgasm". This was very frustrating for me, so 1 month ago, when the weather got nicer, I stopped taking it so my sex life could be normal again. Before the medication, I could have multiple orgasms, but now even though I am not taking them, I still can't! I hate this. What's the deal?

A:

It may take awhile to get back to your "normal" sexual functioning, recognizing that depression itself can affect ability to orgasm and sexual drive.  The medication effect is temporary, so things should be back to normal for you soon.
