I was recently put on the antibiotic Amoxicillin for an ear infection, and I was wondering if there are any extremely harmful effects of consuming alcohol while on this drug. Usually the medication will have a warning not to consume alcohol while taking it, but I couldn't find the answer on the sheet. Thanks for the help!

It is always wise to ask. There is no known adverse reaction between Amoxicillin and alcohol, though alcohol can reduce the absorption of some antibiotics and, as a stomach irritant, there is an increased risk of gastritis (stomach lining inflammation) when taken with some antibiotics.
