Q:

After some extensive bike riding my knees become sore easily and I tend to feel pinching/grinding underneath my kneecap. Can the SHC do any testing/exams to see if any damage was done to my knees?

A:

You are describing pretty classic crepitus (grinding) under the patella and that is consistent with patellofemoral syndrome, an inflammation underneath the knee cap. Our sport medicine specialist Dr. Howe can assess you, diagnosis based on exam and history and possibly xrays and design an exercise program for you to strengthen your quad muscles.
