Q:

My kids have been diagnosed recently with ear infections, and are now taking amoxicillin. My ears have been clogged. Could that be an infection? Should I see a doctor?

A:

It's likely you have fluid behind your ear drums in your middle ear but without pain or fever, it is unlikely it is infected. Using decongestant nasal spray for a couple days (no longer than that) and trying to gently open your eustachian tubes open by swallowing or yawning, trying to make your ears "pop" as if you were going over a mountain pass may help relieve the pressure and allow the fluid to drain normally to the nasal cavity.
