Q:

I've been on the Nuvaring for about nearly 7 months but now I'm considering stopping it. My boyfriend and I have a wonderful relationship but I do not want to have to worry about pregnancy anymore. (I realize the ring is 99% effective, but things can happen) I'd rather be intimate in other ways that do no involve side effects, pregnancy worries etc. After my period (If I do decide to stop it) do I just not insert the Nuvaring again? What will my period be like without hormonal contraception?

A:

That's correct, you don't reinsert the Nuvaring after your period. Your period after the next menstrual cycle will be similar to what you had prior to hormonal contraception, though it may take several months to reestablish a predictable bleeding pattern.
