Q:

Besides having a red eye, how else would I know if I have pink eye?

A:

Mucus drainage and crusty eyelashes, irritation and itching and an upper respiratory infection usually goes along with a viral conjunctivitis (pink eye). It usually resolves on its own in 3 days.

If you are having a painful eye, are light sensitive or any other visual change, or it is lasting beyond 3 days, we should see you.
