How do you treat sinus infections?

 

A:

Clinical studies suggest antibiotics are not particularly helpful in sinus infections unless the following are present:

  • Fever over 100 degrees

  • Facial redness, swelling over the sinus

  • Symptoms beyond two weeks

Otherwise, using nasal decongestant sprays for no more than three days, salt water nasal sprays for irrigation, and drinking plenty of fluids can help.
