Q:
I take Ritalin sometimes to focus on school. Whenever I take
it though, I get a really bad headache. Is this something I should worry
about?
A:
Yes, that
is worrisome because as a stimulant, Ritalin is causing vasoconstriction of
your blood vessels, which in turn raises your blood pressure. Increased
blood pressure can cause headaches but it is particularly a worry that this
may be a warning sign of a brain aneurysm (dilated blood vessel). You need
to talk with your prescribing provider about this right away.
