Q:
My boyfriend was recently diagnosed with mono, and he is
very ill. I am beginning to feel a sore throat and slight pressure in my
ears, should I be tested for mono?
A:
The
incubation period for mononucleosis can be up to 40 days or more, so if it
has been that long since your exposure to your boyfriend, including the week
before his symptoms started, then yes, we should test you for mono as well.
Many young adults have already been exposed to mono and have immunity, but
there are several viruses that can cause mono-like symptoms.
