How to Make an Appointment
You may visit or call the Counseling Center to request counseling. Our receptionist will ask you if you are a Western student currently taking six or more credits (our eligibility requirements), if you have previously used our services, and whether your concerns are urgent or if you can wait a few days before a first appointment.
If your concerns do not require an immediate appointment, you will be asked to complete some paperwork, which usually takes about 15-20 minutes. Once you have completed your paperwork, you will be scheduled for an initial consultation, usually within one week. If your concerns worsen while you are awaiting your first appointment, you may call and request a more urgent appointment. The purpose of this interview is to get an initial understanding of your concerns. You and the counselor will decide on the most appropriate plan for follow-up services given the nature of your concerns.
