WEAVE

Women's Empowerment and Violence Education

A Prevention and Wellness Services Lifestyle Advisor Program

WEAVE is a team of female Western Students dedicated to promoting women positively throughout the greater Western community. Originally called Sexual Assault Prevention in years past, their goal was to reduce sexual assaults through dorm programs. WEAVE's focus has broadened to include empowerment, awareness, and social activism through multiple outreach projects, all of which will help society reach the underlying goal: to end violence against women.

Under the direction of Devlin O'Donnell (CASAS coordinator), WEAVE's projects for the 2005-2006 year were: creating a bathroom stall outreach project, bringing "The Vagina Monologues" to Western, running events during Sexual Assault Awareness and Action Week, creating a CASAS website and doing programs in the dorms, juvenile detention center and classrooms on campus.
