Main messages:

  • Most of us will become sexually active at some point in our life.
  • We make no assumptions about your sexual choices.
  • You may be part of the 30% of Western students who have not had anal, oral or vaginal sex in the last year.
  • Communication is an important piece in assessing your risk with your partner and making sex more enjoyable.
  • There are communication skills you can use to make talking about sex easier.
  • Two methods are better than one in contraception prevention.
  • You may choose abstinence at any time in your life even if you have been sexually active before.
  • You can decrease your risk by decreasing your number of partners Abstinence means different things to different people.
  • You are worth protecting.
  • Healthy sexuality means assessing what your wants and needs are and being able to voice those to your partner.
  • Conversations about sex with your partner are not a onetime deal. It is ongoing.
  • Everybody and every body deserves respect.
