Athletic Health Care
Athletic health care is centered at the Athletic Training room located in Carver Gym.
Eligibility
- Current pre-participation evaluation and necessary updates, plus currently-valid health insurance form on file in training room.
-or-- For physical examinations, the athlete must have been placed on a team by the team's coach.
Note: All varsity athletes are charged the Athletic Health Fee.
Services Available
- Varsity athlete clinic, with team physician, daily from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Appointments are made through the athletic trainer assigned to the athlete's team. Priority will be given to in-season athletes.
- Round the clock access to team physician services/consultation. Team physician is available on pager; coach or athletic trainer must facilitate contact.
- Referrals for specialty consultation are available through the team physician.
- Team physician event coverage.
- The services of an athletic training staff. The training staff consists of three certified athletic trainers. One of the trainers is assigned to each varsity team. Services provided include:
- Initial injury/symptom assessment.
- Application of rehabilitation techniques.
- Monitoring of progress in rehabilitation.
- Trainer attendance at practices and competitions to provide pre-event preparation, surveillance for injury, assurance of water supplies, first aid, CPR, and other on-scene emergency services.
- Athletic training room staff to provide injury evaluation, rehabilitation and therapy and monitoring of progress toward return to sport.
- Training Room hours for varsity athletes are normally from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM with specialty hours as needed and practical to conform to team practice and competition schedules. The team physician varsity clinic goes from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. On most weekdays, by appointment through the athletic trainers.
Athletic Health Fee
The athletic health fee is required of all varsity athletes on an annual basis. The cost is $100.00 per year and is charged to your student account. Coverage period is from July 1 through June 30 annually and supports, in part, the athletic health services program.
