*Students wishing to have coverage over the summer months who will not be taking the eligible credits Summer Qtr should enroll for Spring/Summer option.
he Student Health Center coordinates the provision of an optional student medical insurance policy. Undergraduate students enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at WWU (or physically attending classes at one of the official Extended Education sites) and graduate students taking at least 3 credit hours or 1 credit Thesis are eligible to enroll in this plan. Students must actively attend classes for at least the first 31 days after the date for which coverage is purchased. Home study, correspondence, and television (TV) courses do not fulfill the eligibility requirements.
For additional cost(s), the spouse and/or dependent child(ren) of a student enrolled in the plan may also be enrolled for coverage.
The plan coverage is per quarter, though students have the opportunity to enroll for a full 12-month period during the fall quarter enrollment period. If annual coverage isn't purchased, the student must enroll for each quarter of coverage separately during the enrollment period for the quarter coverage is wanted; the student will not receive a notice about re-enrolling. Note that if annual coverage isn’t purchased, summer quarter coverage can only be purchased at the same time spring quarter coverage is purchased – coverage for both quarters must be purchased at the same time.
Eligibility, coverage, benefit, claims submission, cost, contact and enrollment/payment information is available in a brochure. Paper brochures are available at the Student Health Center (Campus Services building 2nd floor, on the corner of 21st St. and Bill McDonald Pkwy; (360) 650-3400 and press 7) and the University Cashier's office (Old Main 110).
The Student Health Center strongly recommends that all students have some form of health insurance to defray the substantial costs associated with serious accidents and illness.
