The Student Health Center coordinates the provision of an optional student health insurance policy. Undergraduate students enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at WWU and graduate students taking at least 3 credit hours or 1 credit Thesis or enrolled in a degree-granting program are eligible to enroll in this plan. Students must actively attend classes for at least the first 45 days after the date for which coverage is purchased. Home study, correspondence, internet and television courses do not fulfill the eligibility requirements.
For additional cost(s), the spouse and/or dependent child(ren) of a student enrolled in the plan may also be enrolled for coverage.
The plan coverage is per quarter, though students have the opportunity to enroll for a full 12-month period during for fall quarter. If annual coverage isn't purchased, the student must enroll for each quarter of coverage separately; during the enrollment period for the quarter coverage is wanted. This means that if the student purchases coverage for fall quarter only and wants to purchase coverage for the following Winter, Spring and Summer quarters, the student must re-enroll (submit an enrollment card and payment by mail or online) during the enrollment period for each quarter.
Eligibility, coverage, benefit, claims submission, cost, contact and enrollment/payment information is available in a brochure. Brochures are available at the Student Health Center (Campus Services building on the corner of 21st St. and Bill McDonald Pkwy, (360) 650-3400 and press 7) and the University Cashier's office (Old Main 245). You may view the brochure, access related plan information AND enroll online at http://ww.wellsfargo.com/studentinsurance/.
The Student Health Center strongly recommends that all students have some form of health insurance to defray the substantial costs associated with serious accidents and illness.
