Free Or Discounted Drug Programs
The WWU Student Health Center offers direct sales of the most common generic medications right out of our clinic formulary. In addition, there are the following resources available to students.
RxHelpForWA is a program that connects qualified, low-income people with discount prescription drugs, direct from the pharmaceutical manufacturer. They offer a single point of access to public and private patient assistance programs, including more than 150 programs offered by pharmaceutical companies. Patients will be directed to the public or private programs most likely to meet their needs. RxHelpforWA helps low-income, uninsured patients. Visit their website at http://www.rxhelpforwa.org/
WPDP: Washington Prescription Drug Program is a new prescription drug discount program created by the legislature at the request of Governor Gregoire. Although it is not an insurance program, WPDP members can receive discount prices on drugs that are very similar to what the large health insurance companies must actually pay. On average you’ll save up to 60% on generic drugs and 20% on brand name drugs. It is open to all Washington State residents who do not have prescription drug insurance coverage, or whose insurance does not cover all their prescription drug needs. There are no other eligibility requirements or fees required for membership in the WPDP. Visit their website at http://www.rx.wa.gov/
Costco Member Prescription Program (CMPP): Provides qualified Costco members lower costs on a number of prescription drugs. By enrolling in the Program, Costco members who have no available insurance coverage for medications, may pay less for certain prescriptions than what they would otherwise pay at a Costco Pharmacy for the same drug or a therapeutically equivalent drug.
