Critical Junctures Institute
April 14, 2011
The Critical Junctures Institute (CJI) is a collaborative venture between Western Washington University and PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center, and operates as a program of the University. CJI has maintained a small but dedicated staff that pursued development opportunities for the Institute, as well as worked on grant funded projects aimed at improving community health and health care advancement in Whatcom County.
In the current economic climate, Western and PeaceHealth have had to reduce their financial support of the Institute which, unfortunately, has led to the necessity of reducing staff hours. Thus, CJI staff are focusing on the current portfolio of funded projects while development activities aimed at securing additional grants and revenue are on hold pending the availability of additional resources.
Currently Michael Massanari, MD, the CJI Executive Director is providing leadership and technical assistance for the following projects:
- Palliative Care Project, funded by the River Styx Foundation
- Family Care Network Medical Home Project (funded by Mt. Baker Imaging Philanthropy Fund)
