BELLINGHAM – A group of Western Washington University photography students have scheduled a series of fundraising events, starting with a “Portrait Day” from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5 in Western’s Fine Arts building, room 108.
The first event is a photo shoot, “Portrait Day,” that will cost $10 (cash only). Participants have the opportunity to have images made for the holidays, take headshots for modeling or acting portfolios, or have professional photograph of themselves, a friend, or family member.
This event is organized by a coalition of the Art 397-I: Professional Portfolio Preparation students, Western’s Society for Photographic Education (SPE) AS Club, as well as several other dedicated students planning to participate in SPE events this year.
Students involved in this fundraiser are: Camille Crocetti (Albuquerque, N.M.), Greg Crooks (Bellingham), Ashley Garrels (Renton), Derren Hall (Perth, Western Australia), Dylan Hallett (Bellingham), April Hayden (Issaquah), Kelly Hill (Fall City), Katie Hudak (Bozeman, Mont.), Frankie Krupa-Vahdani (Seattle), Kevin Lowdon (Bellevue), Quinton Maldonado (Richland), Shelby Powers (Gilbert, Ariz.), Stephen Reigns (Seattle), Tim Seguin (Wenatchee), Patricia Swanson (Lynwood) and Dylan Vogel (Sandpoint, Idaho).
The money being raised is to fund travel for photography students to attend the Society for Photographic Education National Conference in Baltimore, Md., next spring. All of these events will directly benefit the students by teaching them how to generate revenue for a project and will ultimately expose them to other professionals in their field of study at both the regional and national SPE conferences.

10 a.m.-6 p.m.
