The Legacy of the Olympic Games:
VANCOUVER 2010

An
overview of the critical issues and upcoming events of the 2010 Vancouver
Olympics on the Olympic movement and the future of the Olympic Games. The
remarkable life and athleticism of Bellingham’s own Franz Gabl, a
1948 silver medalist in the downhill event will be highlighted as an
inspiration for all those who engage in the healthy pursuit of athletic and
personal excellence.

Featured Guest Speakers:
Erin Porter Bembry, US short track speed skater who
competed in the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
Three-time Paralympian, Donovan
Tildesley, who bore Canada’s flag at the 2008 Paralympics in
Beijing. Donovan won multiple medals in swimming events at the Paralympic
Summer Games in Sydney (2000), Athens (2004) and Beijing (2008).
This event is free and
open to the public!
Please join us as we listen to the personal stories of these remarkable
athletes and learn about the values of the Olympic and Paralympic
Movements, the challenges of world record athleticism, and the importance
of striving for excellence.

year’s Center for Performance Excellence
Distinguished Lecturer in Sport
Psychology, Dr. Jon Hammermeister.
Dr. Hammermeister is with the Army
Center for Enhanced Performance at West Point, New York,
and is a performance consultant in
Sport Psychology to the 2010 USA Ski Team.
He served in the same capacity with
USA Olympic Teams in 2002 and 2006.
