Welcome to the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders!
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) offers engaging and challenging courses and clinical experiences for students studying at the undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate levels. Upon graduation, undergraduate students majoring in CSD will be well-prepared to pursue advanced degrees in speech-language pathology or audiology. Our Master's degree program in speech-language pathology provides exceptional academic, clinical, and research opportunities for students who intend to practice in educational or medical settings..
We are located in the east wing of the Academic Instruction Center in a LEED certified building that opened in January, 2009. Our fully-mediated and well-equipped classrooms and teaching labs provide optimal learning environments. Students benefit from using the latest equipment and software as they learn about normal and disordered communication processes. Comfortable offices, research labs, student collaborative spaces, and multiple computer stations further contribute to a warm and welcoming learning ambience. The Western Washington University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinics occupy two floors of the building, where assessment and treatment services are provided for residents of Bellingham and nearby communities.
Please spend some time exploring the pages and links on our website. You also are welcome to contact us for an appointment with an undergraduate advisor or graduate advisor. We would be happy to arrange a tour of the facilities and a meeting with students who will share their perspectives on their experiences in CSD. Contact information is provided here and throughout site.
