Giving to the College of Sciences and Technology

The faculty and staff of the College of Sciences and Technology (CST) are committed to providing the best possible learning experience for our students. You can help us enhance this experience by contributing generously in support of student research and conference presentations, undergraduate and graduate scholarships, faculty and program support, technical equipment and facilities maintenance and replacement to provide our students and faculty with cutting edge technology.

As our alumni and friends know, Western and the College are known for the strength of their sciences as well as liberal arts, and particularly for the focus on teaching and the unique opportunity for undergraduates to engage in research, being a campus comprised of 94% undergraduates.

Presently the College of Sciences and Technology has embarked on initiatives of Dean Jeff Wright's and Western's to transition our engineering technology department to an engineering department/school and to expand our computer science department to double the number of computer science graduates each year in order to meet the gap in employment needs of the State and nation in these two key growth fields. We are immensely grateful to our many alumni, friends, industry partners and legislators for advocating and securing new, recurring Washington State funding for both our engineering transition and computer science expansion beginning in Fall 2014.

Thank you for considering a gift to CST. We depend on the support of our alumni and friends to provide the margin of excellence that only private support can offer. You can designate your gift to support a particular department within the College or you can leave it unrestricted and you can be assured that it will provide funds to leverage the greatest opportunity or priority in the College. You can also make your gift in honor or memory of a faculty member who made a significant difference in your life, or of loved one.

Your gift is greatly appreciated and it will have a positive impact on our students and faculty, and the next generation of scholars, innovators, researchers and teachers in the State of Washington, the Pacific Northwest, nation and world.

I am delighted to have joined WWU in August 2012. This marks for a return to the sciences and an exciting opportunity to build the major gift program, corporate development program and advocacy/external and industry relationships for the nine departments and programs of the College of Sciences and Technology.

I am a North Westerner at heart, a marketing graduate with a minor in public administration from the University of Oregon Lundquist College of Business, with emphases in visual design and journalism. Western attracted me from the University of Oregon where I was a development leader for the prior fifteen years – leading the School of Music and Dance’s fundraising operations, external relations and special events, and earlier as a major gifts fundraiser for the UO College of Arts and Sciences. Prior to that, I served as director of development or executive director for several non-profit agencies in Eugene, Oregon.

At the UO, I headed the $20.3 million MarAbel B. Frohnmayer Music Building renovation and expansion, as well as raised funds for 35+ new pianos and instruments, student scholarships, support for the faculty and curriculum, and guest artists/master classes – part of the State of Oregon's most successful fundraising campaign, Campaign Oregon, which raised $853 million, thanks to private support.

I look forward to meeting you an working together to enhance the College and support our outstanding faculty, students, departments and programs. Thank you!
