The production administrative computer where
all Banner and other mainframe administrative applications are run. Access
is granted to the applications on this machine by the main administrative
office responsible for each application
system.

Cluster Servers:
A Cluster of HP Netservers
and Blade servers running Novell
Netware. Provides general administrative, student and faculty, file and print services
for the campus.
Exchange Servers:
These are HP Blade servers
running MS Windows and Microsoft Exchange server software. The Exchange
servers provide general administrative and faculty microcomputer-based
Electronic mail and calendaring services.
Microsoft Servers:
These are MS Active Directory servers supporting proprietary administrative
applications, WWU web sites, Database, and student learning application
software, such as Blackboard.
In addition, Western provides remote
computer access to all faculty, staff, and students via several pools of
dial-in modems. Also, any faculty, staff, or student can access
Western's campus network and computer resources via any ntetwork connection,
including Internet Service Provide (ISP) connections.
Student Modem Pool
This pool consists of 72 modems (56Kbps).
These modems are accessible remotely from anywhere. To access this pool
you need PPP softare installed on your remote machine. Access by dialing
647-6200. Contact ATUS to get a free copy of the PPP software.
Access is granted to all student with a valid Titan account. If you do
not have an account on Titan contact ATUS Help Desk, x3333.
Faculty/Staff Modem Pool
This
pool consists of 48 modems (56Kbps). These modems are accessible
remotely from anywhere. To access this pool you need PPP software
installed on your remote machine and a valid faculty/staff modem pool account.
Access by dialing 647-5116. Contact ATUS to get a free copy of the PPP
software. To obtain a faculty/staff modem pool account, contact the ATUS
Help Desk, x3333. Dial-In Access
Faculty/Staff Remote Banner Access
Faculty and staff can run Banner Web Forms from home with a PC or Mac using
just an Internet browser such as Netscape or Internet Explorer (IE). For
