Testing Center
The mission of the Testing Center is to provide professional and secure test administration and scoring services, and to manage the administration and scoring of Faculty Senate-mandated teaching evaluations for the Western community.
Located in Old Main 120, the Testing Center coordinates the administration of standardized tests at Western, both for the University community and for a growing number of outside agencies:
- Math Placement Test MPT)
- Independent Learning (EESP)
- Long Distance Learning
- Course Challenge
- Miller Analogies Test (MAT)
- ETS: SAT, LSAT, PCAT, GRE-subject
- PAN: TSA, U. S. Customs, Jones NCTI, USPS
- Pearson Vue: CompTIA, American College, Cisco, EMT, DANB
- Teacher Certification: Major Fields Test, WEST-B, WEST-E
- TOEFFL
- CASTLE Worldwide
- ISO-Quality Testing, Inc.
- Certiport: Microsoft MOS, MCAS
- Local government agencies
Other functions of the Testing Center include:
- providing information on national testing programs.
- maintaining records of entrance test scores.
- machine scoring of multiple-choice examinations and surveys.
- administering challenge examinations.
- coordinating student evaluations of faculty.
- administering exams for independent study courses.
- providing local administrations of distance learning exams for both
Western and other universities.
