Canadian Studies Affiliates
Association for Canadian Studies in the U.S. (ACSUS)
ACSUS, founded in 1971, encourages the study of Canada
at all educational levels and in all disciplines. Its
central mission is to promote greater understanding of
Canada by educating students about the country's political
system, economy, history, geography and cultural heritage.
The majority of the Association's 1,000 members are university
professors engaged in research and teaching about Canada.
A growing number represent the corporate sector, the legal
community, and government agencies in both the United States
and Canada. Institutional members include libraries,
publishers, and professional groups.
Canada-America Society
The Canada-America Society was founded in 1976 to promote
greater understanding, friendship and goodwill between the
people of Canada and the United States; to foster cross-border
business relationships; and, to increase the knowledge of
Canadian culture The Society sponsors social, business and
cultural events involving business leaders, academicians,
government officials, alumni of Canadian universities and
many others. In the Society you will find opportunities to
network informally, attend Canadian cultural events, discuss
contemporary issues or learn about political, economic,
business or social developments.
Canadian-American Center at the University of Maine
This site offers a lot of ideas for teaching and learning
about Canada. Numerous resources, like the Canada Valise
loan-kit and visiting exhibit Three Arctic Visits, teacher
backgrounders and professional development program opportunities.
NCSS Teaching Canada Special Interest Group (SIG)
NCSS Special Interest Groups enable members to find
other members with similar interests in specific aspects of
the social studies. SIGs present sessions and hold a business

Pacific Northwest Canadian Studies Consortium (PNWCSC)
The mission of the PNWCSC is to facility the
development of Canadian Studies at institutions of
higher education in the Pacific Northwest, and to
enhance cooperation, joint programming, and information
sharing among Canadian Studies programs and faculty
in the Pacific region.
