The Vice Provost for Undergraduate
Education, in collaboration with the Center for
Service-Learning (CSL) and the Center for Instructional
Innovation, is soliciting nominations from the
campus community, especially Directors, Department
Chairs and College Deans for faculty to participate
in a Service-Learning Faculty Fellows Program.
We are seeking faculty interested in integrating
academic service-learning pedagogy into a new
or existing course during the 2007-08 academic
year. Pending funding, selected faculty will work
with Service-Learning Faculty Fellow Dr. Angela
Harwood from Woodring College of Education and
CSL staff throughout the 2007-08 academic year.
Faculty Fellows will explore academic service-learning
theories and effective implementation and assessment
strategies. Fellows will work together to share
ideas, revise syllabi, develop community partners
and design community-based learning projects that
meet course learning objectives.

You may nominate up to three faculty from each
program or department or up to seven faculty from
each college.
Goals
To develop interdisciplinary
collegiality among faculty interested in service-learning,
community based learning and civic engagement
in higher education.
To form partnerships and
supportive networks to engage in service-learning
pedagogy and scholarship during the 2007-08
academic year.
To share experiences
and course accomplishments and challenges with
other WWU faculty through presentations and/or
mentoring during the 2007-08 academic year.

toward relevant service-learning, community-based

workshop or other event.

certificate of completion, support letters for
and assistance with addressing service-learning
in Tenure, Promotion and Review portfolios,
and highlighted work at campus events.
