Procedure 9: Grieving an Accommodation Decision (Effective August 27, 2001).

The following would occur:

1. Action by Student: Files a written grievance of the accommodation decision with the Director of disAbility Resources for Students (DRS) within five business days of receiving notification of the decision.

2. Action by Director of DRS:
  • Evaluates the grievance.
  • If necessary, meets with the Director of DRS or designee to discuss the accommodation request and the reason for denial
  • Notifies the student of the decision within five business days of receiving the request.
3. Action by Student: If dissatisfied with the decision by the Director of DRS, requests within five business days that the Director of DRS forward the grievance to the Vice President for Student Affairs.

4. Action by Director of DRS: Forwards the grievance to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Academic Support Services within two business days of the request by the student.

5. Action by Vice President for Student Affairs and Academic Support Services:
  • Evaluates the grievance.
  • If necessary, meets with the Director of DRS or designee to discuss the accommodation request and reason for denial.
  • Provides written notification to the student of the final decision regarding the accommodation request within five business days of receiving the request.
