disAbility Resources for Students
Western Washington University

Procedure 2: Requesting Enlarged Print (Effective August 27, 2001).

After disAbility Resources for Students (DRS) completes a Needs Assessment for the student and determines that the student is qualified to have his or her textbooks or other academic materials enlarged, the student must initiate the enlarged print process.

1. Action by Student: Delivers textbooks or academic materials to DRS.

2. Action by DRS:
  • Receives the initial request to enlarge the student's texts or materials.
  • Enlarges the materials in the office or sends large orders to the copy shop on campus.
3. Action by Student:
  • Checks back with DRS no earlier than one business day after dropping off small orders or five business days after dropping off textbooks.
  • Picks up original materials and enlargements.
Important Notes:
  • Students who attend classes outside of the University's main campus in Bellingham may arrange to receive and deliver materials to the main campus via fax or mail instead of handling them in person. Students are encouraged to factor in additional delivery time when sending or receiving items by mail.
  • DRS will provide the enlarged text at no cost to the student.
  • Textbooks or other large orders will be sent to the copy shop on campus for enlarging. Due to the size of the order and the amount of orders that the copy shop processes,it may take five to ten business days before the materials are enlarged and returned to DRS.
