1. Action by Student: Delivers materials to be brailled to DRS as close to the beginning of the quarter as possible. When delivering textbooks for ongoing classes, the student must also provide a course syllabus.
2. Action by DRS: Processes the initial request to braille the student's materials and gives the materials to the off-campus Braille Contractor.
3. Action by Braille Contractor:
- Converts the student's materials to braille.
- Delivers the brailled materials to DRS.
- Checks back with DRS no earlier than five business days after delivering materials with less than ten pages in length; OR, twenty business days after delivering more than ten pages.
- Picks up brailled materials from DRS, or asks DRS to mail them if student is off-campus. Larger or ongoing reading assignments from textbooks will be available in installments.
6. Action by Student: Picks up brailled materials for ongoing reading assignments from DRS once a week or every other week; OR, asks DRS to mail them if student is off-campus.
Important Note:
Due to the size and content of some textbooks, the Braille Contractor will not be able to provide the entire book in Braille before the beginning of class. The Braille Contractor will provide the student with materials to keep the student one to one and a half weeks ahead of the syllabus.
