1. Action by Student: Delivers textbooks and class syllabus to DRS as close to the beginning of the quarter as possible.
2. Action by DRS:
- Processes the initial request to tape-record the student's texts.
- Determines a recording schedule for the student's text.
- Records student's initial reading assignments.
- Checks back with DRS no earlier than four business days after delivering the texts.
- Picks up tapes for initial reading assignments that have been recorded.
5. Action by Student: Picks up tapes periodically.
Important Notes:
- Students who attend classes outside of the University's main campus in Bellingham may arrange to receive and deliver materials to the main campus via mail instead of handling them in person. Students are encouraged to factor in additional delivery time when sending or receiving items by mail.
- DRS will provide the tapes for tape-recording at no cost to the student. The tapes remain the property of DRS.
- Readers can record approximately ten to fifteen pages of text per hour; therefore, textbooks will be taped to keep the student one to one and a half weeks ahead of the syllabus.
- Due to a variety of factors, the student may experience a delay in getting the first week's reading assignment recorded on tape.
- Students who need access to their textbooks at all times during the taping process are encouraged to do one of the following:
1. Drop the book off at DRS in the morning to allow for taping during the day and pick the book up at closing. DRS office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
2. Provide a copy of the book to DRS for taping and use another copy for class or whenever needed.
