The upkeep and care for Western's 215 acre central campus (plus 164 acres off-site) is the responsibility of Outdoor Maintenance Services. Utility personnel complement this effort by maintaining walkways, streets, fences, parking lots, storm drains and irrigation systems.

Services provided by Outdoor Maintenance:

  • Care and development of campus landscapes
  • Construction, maintenance and modification/repair to grounds and utilities
  • Installation, repair and maintenance of irrigation systems and controls
  • Labor assistance to other Facilities Maintenance craftspeople
  • Operation, maintenance and repair of large tractors, mowers and other grounds keeping equipment
  • Removal of snow and ice from stairs and walkways

Any special service (non-ordinary) requests require a funded Work Request submitted to the Work Control Center, 650-3420. Typical special service requests include:

  • Archives Building grounds work
  • Event support including trash barrel placement and pick-up
  • Fast pitch field maintenance
  • Ground services for Associated Student property
  • Parking lot services
  • Revenue generating events using campus grounds
