Cash Handling - Counterfeiting - Traveler's Checks

To reduce the risk of processing counterfeited treaveler's checks:

1. Make sure they are countersigned in your presence.
2. Look for obvious signature alterations or when checks appear washed.
3. Watch for customers that make multiple purchases with large denomination checks.
4. With certain brands, perform smear test:
   • When wet, the denomination on the left side of the check will smear and the right side will not.
