Admissions

Admission to Honors is selective, but there is no set formula for admission; all completed applications will be thoroughly reviewed. However, most students admitted to Honors have at least a 3.8 GPA, 1200 SAT or 27 ACT, and a selection of Honors, AP, IB, and/or other challenging high school courses.

Application Steps

  1. Apply to Western Washington University
  2. Complete the Honors Application (pdf), including:
    • An official high school and/or college transcript
    • Letter of recommendation from a teacher/counselor
    • A sample of your best written work
  3. Submit the Honors application materials by mail to:
    • Honors Program
      516 High Street
      Bellingham, WA 98225-9112

Receiving College Credit

Many Honors students enter Western with college credit through Running Start, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and other college-level courses. For more information, review Western's policies for awarding and accepting college credit.

Please note: In order to receive college credit, you must submit official college transcripts, official AP scores (AP transcript), and/or official IB scores to the Admissions Office.
