Asbestos-ridden Swift Creek may receive $1 million to begin clean-up

EVERSON, Wash. – It doesn’t take a geologist to recognize where the mile-long landslide on Sumas Mountain is. Just drive east out of the small town of Everson, and you’ll see it – the landslide that’s caused so much trouble for government agencies and local residents alike. This is the landslide that has been releasing 120,000 cubic yards of asbestos-ridden sediment into the nearby Swift Creek each year since the late 1930s. —>
