Title: Lorentz transformations

Speaker: Joe Postma

Abstract: Modern Physics tells us that space and time measurements are relative. If two observers are moving at different velocities, their observations will not agree. Lorentz transformations are the tools that allow us to compare measurements made by observers moving at different velocities. Surprisingly, Lorentz transformations have a direct correspondence to Moebius transformations of the Riemann sphere. We will explore this relationship and look at several examples of Lorentz transformations in practice.
