Day: Tuesday June 6 Time: 12:00pm Place: BH 419 Title: Beautiful Mathematics which is also very useful Speaker: Nicola Parker Abstract: We will begin with a very elementary study of data compression and discrete Fourier transforms, which will lead into motivation for wavelet bases for finite dimensional complex vectors. We will look at requirements for wavelet bases and explore various examples in one and two dimensions.
