Title: Modeling Consumer Behavior
Speaker: Edoh Amiran, Western Washington University
Abstract: Models of consumers' behavior are important in policy decisions, in measurements of economic conditions, and in
understanding whether actions are consistent with certain motivations.
This talk will explain the goals for consumer models (as they should be), give some examples from policy and measurement,
discuss a few existing and proposed models, and show examples of what these models tell us about consistency of actions.
To discuss measurement, some calculations will be considered, but the talk should be accessible to those who understand
constrained optimization and are willing to expose themselves to thoughts about people's behavior.
