Pre-Registration for
Declared Physics/Astronomy Majors

During the first five weekdays of Phase I, classes are restricted to declared pre-majors and majors, including declared General Studies Majors. This is our "pre-registration" period for students who are majors in the department.

Registration For All Other Students

Starting on the 6th weekday of Phase I, all classes are open to all students, including minors.   If you are not currently declared as a Physics major or Astronomy minor, plan to register for Physics/Astronomy classes beginning on the 6th weekday of Phase I of registration.  We restrict classes to Physics/Astronomy majors during the first five days in order to provide "pre-registration" for declared majors.  However, all students are welcome to take any classes that have space available, provided you have completed the prerequisites.  If you plan to declare a major, please do so well in advance of registration so that access during this first five-day period is guaranteed!

What To Do If A Class Is Filled

Please continue calling RSVP.  Spaces typically open up as students are continually changing schedules through Phase II of registration.

Overrides For Filled Classes

Overrides for filled classes may be obtained from instructors.

Courses Requiring Permission

To register for Physics 400, you will need an Independent Study Registration Permit Card signed by the instructor.  Cards are available from the Physics/Astronomy Department Office (CF 385), or from the Physics/Astronomy Advisor (CF 385A).  Once this card is completed, turn it in to the Registrar's Office to finalize registration (registration is not completed via RSVP).
