The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is committed to assisting faculty with research and scholarly activities by providing small grants.

Procedure

To apply for funding, fill out a funding request form (available from RSP) and return it to RSP, MS 9038. Be sure to mark the category of funding to which you are applying.

Restrictions

Because support is available from other university sources, these grant programs will not fund:

  • travel to professional meetings
  • travel to and from and per diem during a professional leave
  • textbook, instructional materials, or curriculum development

There is a funding limit of $4,000 per faculty member per year for the combination of these grants.

Pilot Project Funding

Through the Research Advisory Committee, grants for up to $3,000 are awarded to assist faculty with pilot projects which will generate data needed to develop proposals for extramural funding. (No deadline, allow at least two weeks for a response.)

Grants-in-Aid

Through the Research Advisory Committee, grants of up to $2,000 are awarded to assist faculty with research and/or creative activities. (No deadline, allow at least two weeks for committee review.)

Mini-Grants

Up to $1,000 for research-related materials, supplies, or services. Mini-grants are reviewed by RSP. (No deadline, allow at least one week for a response.)

Manuscript Preparation

Up to $1,500 to assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publication.

Procedure: To apply for funding, fill out reverse side of this form and mail it to the
Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, MS 9038. Be sure to mark the category of
funding that you are applying for and include a budget and current curriculum vitae.

Restrictions: These grants are limited to funding individual faculty research,
scholarship, and creative activities and are not intended to fund travel to professional
meetings, purchase of general-purpose equipment, development of instructional materials
or projects, dissertation work, travel to and from or living expenses during an off-campus
professional leave. There is a funding limit of $4,000 per faculty member per year for the
combination of grants-in-aid and mini-grants.
