Herschel 400 Observation Log #89
Using an 18.7 inch telescope, Sir William Herschel observed about 2500 deep sky objects in the late 1700's. A group of observers from the Ancient City Astronomy Club in St. Augustine, Florida selected some of the objects to form the Herschel 400, an advanced program for the Astronomical League. The League issues an award for members who log observations of the whole list. The program is challenging by design and is meant for seasoned star hoppers. The League recommends beginners first tackle the less daunting Messier Catalog.
Observations made by Brad Snowder, the 89th member admitted into the Astronomical League Herschel 400 club.
