Palmer Scholars
The Palmer Scholars program assists financially disadvantaged minority students from Pierce County in earning a degree in higher education through financial aid and mentor support. Palmer Scholars are selected by the Palmer Foundation based on socioeconomic and academic potential.
The Palmer Foundation provides community mentors who meet regularly with their students. Western’s Palmer Scholars also benefit from having an assigned Academic Support Coordinator from Student Outreach Services who provides both social and academic mentoring.
Peer Mentors
If you will be coming to Western and have been accepted as a Palmer Scholar student, you will be assigned a student Peer Mentor who will be available to provide campus support for you.
